Accountable to the Chief Operating Officer, Scott supports Student Freedom Initiative’s mission by advancing strategic partnerships that expand access to education and career pathways for students at Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs). With over a decade of experience in institutional fundraising, business development, and cross-sector collaboration, he works closely with implementation partners, university leaders, and community stakeholders to co-create initiatives that address institutional priorities and student aspirations—connecting partner institutions with public and private sector leaders to promote economic mobility and long-term impact. Scott brings experience building cross-sector partnerships and translating strategic vision into actionable plans that expand access to education, career, and economic opportunity. He applies expertise in stakeholder engagement, prospect scoping, and program design to ensure alignment with SFI’s goals and community needs.
Scott’s professional background spans national and global nonprofit organizations, where he has led efforts to secure investment, design collaborative initiatives, and scale student and community-centered programs. At the University of Houston, Scott served as Assistant Director of Corporate Relations, where he built and expanded partnerships between industry leaders and academic departments, leading to investments that launched inclusive workforce development initiatives. He has also held leadership roles at World Learning and other community and international nonprofits focused on expanding educational and economic opportunities.
Scott holds a Master’s in Public Policy from Georgetown University, a Bachelor’s in Business & Sociology from Otterbein University, and served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Guatemala.
