Student Freedom Initiative (“SFI”)

Accountable to the Chief Operating Officer for the full lifecycle management for the organization’s research, development, and implementation of projects aimed at reducing the wealth gap through the lens of education for member institutions.  The portfolio of projects includes those projects that are associated with increasing access to program pillars via third party platforms, onboarding selected Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs), White House Initiative on HBCU activities, and other initiatives that expand awareness of programs pillars to stakeholders and enable attainment of organizational outcomes.

Quiana has nearly 14 years in Higher education, and most recently served as Campus Director of Financial Aid at Montgomery College, Takoma Park/Silver Spring, Maryland.  She has held several positions throughout her career with direct oversight in professional judgments (i.e., homelessness, dependency overrides), outreach, and federal aid disbursements.  Quiana played a vital role in the close-out phase of Sojourner-Douglass College, Baltimore, MD, by overseeing the Heighten Cash Monitoring 2 (HCM2) process.  Quiana’s passion for students’ success extended beyond her role in the financial aid office.  In Fall 2019, she was selected by the Vice Presidents of Student Affairs and Financial Aid, respectively, to be member of a team of three representing Bowie State University upon Prince George’s County’s award of a $3.5 million grant.  The grant was provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the purpose combating youth homelessness.  Graduate of University of Maryland Global Campus (Master of Business of Administration) and Sojourner-Douglass College (Bachelor of Arts in Administration).
