Dennis Cheng

Senior Advisor for Development and Outreach
Student Freedom Initiative ("SFI")

Accountable to the Executive Director for designing and implementing the campaign plan for the Student Freedom Fund, as well as overseeing engagement with corporate, foundation, and individual donors to SFI.

Dennis has led a diverse career in philanthropy, politics, government, and business development. Since 2017, he has served as Senior Advisor at Onward Together, Hillary Clinton’s non-profit organization dedicated to protecting voting rights, increasing voter participation, and recruiting women and people of color to run for office. As Principal of Cheng Strategies, he advises non-profit and political clients on their strategic planning, development and outreach, and partnership engagement. He has served as Senior Advisor to the President at The Asian American Foundation, Senior Advisor for External Outreach for Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign, National Finance Director for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign, Chief Development Officer of the Clinton Foundation, and Deputy Chief of Protocol of the United States during the Obama Administration. In the business sector, he was Head of Investor Relations at an early-stage venture capital fund and Chief of Staff to the CEO of a Fortune 500 company. Dennis is a graduate of Swarthmore College and the London School of Economics and Political Science.
